Tapping the full potentials of the games industry is a primary goal of GDI.Ruhr as well as incarnating these into an expertise-network in the Ruhr region. Having its head office at Campus Duisburg, the "Game Technology Competence Center NRW (GTCC.NRW)" is the central part of this project. The Interactive Systems Research Group contributes via its extensive experience in technological research projects and assists the transfer of knowledge among research and industry. Future game developers are given the opportunity to connect multidisciplinary expertise such as computer science, psychology and game design.
A branch office of GTCC.NRW is situated at the Games Factory in Mühlheim. In a unique and dynamic environment, start-ups are supported in a market-orientated manner and the games industry in the Ruhr region is strengthened. GDI.Ruhr is a winner of the create.NRW 2009 (EU-NRW Ziel-2) competition.
